The Kenet Legacy

The care of patients and the study of medicine runs in the Kenet family.

Doctors David, Barney & Robert Kenet

His father Dr. David S. Kenet, began the tradition when he graduated from the University of Vermont Medical School and went on to service as a Flight Surgeon for the United States Air Force. In 1950, he then established a medical practice in Lakeland, Florida, the only Ear, Nose and Throat specialty office within 200 miles. Dr. David's was the first integrated waiting room in Central Florida.

Valerie Kenet, Dr. Barney Kenet's mother, was accepted into McGill Medical School in Canada in 1942. Unfortunately, her family did not allow her to attend based upon traditions of the time. Instead, Valerie enrolled in Simmons College and became a registered dietician. She trained at the Mayo Clinic and instilled an appreciation for healthy living, excellent nutrition and compassion into each of her five children and twelve grandchildren.
